Fall is a great time to sell your house or condo!

This week’s blog post is brought to you by Dallas Pacesetter member, Alan Shaffer.

Alan Shaffer has lived in Dallas since 1987, but he wasn’t always the real estate expert he is today. After selling advertising for a national fashion magazine and then selling aerospace hardware, Alan landed in real estate. He has been helping people navigate the Dallas real estate market for 15 years and loves every minute of it.

Fall is finally here in Dallas and seems I’m busier than I have been in months (mostly due to the cooler weather and people wanting to get back out home hunting!). Here are a few thoughts on why Fall is a great time to sell a condo or house and how to do it quickly and for the most money!

1. Buyers this time of year are serious. You just don’t get all the tire kickers and looky-loos that spring brings out.

2. There is a limited window until Thanksgiving, so NOW is the time to list that house or condo. Once the holidays get here, people aren’t focused on buying a home, but on family and friends.

3. Price the home correctly. Home prices have increased over the past couple of years, but well priced homes sell first.  Don’t leave money on the table, but now isn’t the time to float a high price in hopes of a home run.

4. Spruce up your curb appeal! You want a buyer to want to come in to see all the great features of the home, but if they don’t walk through that door, they never will know. A fresh coat of paint, new hardware perhaps, some flowers or fall decor (don’t overdo it!) and squeaky-clean windows will make them want to see more!

I am also happy to do a walk through consultation with you to help get your house or condo ready for sale. I can help point out the small things that will make a buyer want to buy or that could drive them away without making an offer. Just let me know what I can do to help you!
